KALYAN: In a significant development in the RERA scam, the Special Investigation Committee has finally arrested five developers who prepared forged building authorization documents and used them to obtain RERA certificates to sell their unauthorized flats.

The SIT has arrested 65 developers in this case, and they previously arrested 5 people in this scam who’d already prepared forged documents, for a total of 10 arrests in this case.

Mukund Milind Datar, Sunil Balaram Madvi, Aashu Lakshman Mungesh, Rajat Rajan, and Rajesh Raghunath Patil are the names of the five arrested developers.

Priyanka Raorane, Jaideep Tribhuvan, Praveen Tamhankar, Kailash Gavde, and Rahul Navsagare had previously been arrested by the SIT. According to the SIT official, more arrests, in this case, are likely soon.

“These developers built unauthorized buildings on their property without the approval of Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation or RERA,” said Ashok Morale, additional superintendent of police.

The official stated that by doing so, they caused the government to lose revenue and defrauded KDMC, RERA, and buyers who bought flats in these buildings on the basis of forged documents. According to sources, these five developers built buildings with five to seven floors, some of which are inhabited by flat buyers.

The entire scheme came to light after city-based architect Sandeep Patil discovered that some developers had obtained RERA certificates despite not having obtained building permission from KDMC. Patil initially complained to KDMC, who did not take any action, forcing Patil to go to court and file a PIL in this regard, causing KDMC to wake up and file two separate FIRs against 65 developers in Kalyan and Dombivli after an investigation.
