A developer arrested on Sunday after fleeing from custody earlier in the day was nabbed from Mumbai airport for allegedly duping a bank for Rs 30 crore, a Thane police officer said.

Jagdish Wagh (37) from Dombivali, Mumbai, is accused of dupping the CKP bank with Rs 30 crore following default on loans taken on two apartments and a plot and then fraudulently selling it, the official said.

Senior Inspector SP Aaher, of the Domibvali police station, said that “Wagh, who was arrested on the 18th November, was taken to the hospital and he managed to escape since Monday morning. We set up a manhunt for him and nabbed him from the Mumbai domestic terminal airport.”

“In 2012 he had taken a loan from CKP Bank by keeping two apartments and a plot as a mortgage. However, he defaulted on the loan after which, this February, the bank filed a police case. When the bank tried to seal the flats and plot, it found that he had sold it on forged documents. The fraud could be worth Rs 30 crore,” he said.
