According to the source on March 20, 2019, a report mentioned that a team of nearly hundreds of people including 21 engineers, 2 railway officers and 80 workers, had launched 6 major girders. These major girders weighted 80 tonnes each for the most awaited 1.6km long four-lane elevated connector from Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) to the Eastern Express Highway (EEH). While the different blocks allotted by the railways, heavy-duty activity was conducted in the wee hours of March 17 to March 19, 2019.

RA Rajeev (Metropolitan commissioner MMRDA) said, “It was a very difficult task, but the MMRDA, Railways and Contractors have done excellent teamwork in showcasing the project progress in this scale. It is anticipated that the Rs 155-crore connector from BKC to EEH will decongest traffic in the Sion-Dharavi region and decrease travel distance by three kilometres. Three operations of the 53 meter long girders, consisting of two girders at a time, were carried out. The first two tugboats started on March 17 from 1:06 am to 1:34 am, but the next two tugboats started between 2:00 am and 2:46 am on March 18, respectively. On 19 March, between 2:22 am and 3:18 am, the rest of two girders were launched. The initial operations were conducted under the supervision of the Railways, M/s RITES Ltd and Railway officials recommended consultants.
