Berger Paints India, a decorative paint company, will invest Rs 150 crore to setup a plant in the Sandila Industrial area near Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, the company said in a media release.

“This new plant will address product demands from the Uttar Pradesh–Bihar belt,” said Abhijit Roy, MD & CEO of the company.

The belt was previously catered through the plants in West Bengal, Jammu & Delhi.

“Production of decorative paints in the pre-existing plants was not a cost effective proposition in the long – run. Hence, coming up with a new unit was highly required with the continuous market growth after the implementation of GST in the paint sector,” said Roy.

The UP plant will have a projected capacity of two lakh KL/MT per annum.
