The Central government has recently launched an important scheme for people living in rural areas. Its name is the Government’s ‘Ownership Scheme’. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the scheme on 24 April 2020 on National Panchayati Raj Day. They will be given property cards. Introducing the scheme, the PM distributed property cards to some people. The scheme will be looked after by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj.

Most people living in the village do not have their own home documents. The scheme aims to meet the same shortfall. It will facilitate downloan property cards to one lakh property holders. They can make it through sms links sent to their mobile phones. The beneficiaries of the scheme will get physical copy of the property card within a day.

People will be able to avail a loan against the property after getting their property ownership card. They will be able to use it as a guarantee. Banks will be able to avail more benefits on this. This will also help in ending the land dispute in the villages.

The scheme will be implemented in a phased manner across the country. It has been kept for four years (2020-2024). It will cover about 6.62 lakh villages in the country. The pilot phase will cover about 1 lakh villages in Uttar Pradesh, Har Yana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Punjab and Rajasthan.
