What does CTS Number of property in Mumbai mean??

You would have heard of the city survey number or CTS number if you owned a property in Mumbai or are preparing to purchase a land parcel in Mumbai. But what’s crucial about the city survey number and how is the CTS number provided in Mumbai? Is the registration of a house in Mumbai without the city survey number possible? If not, which department should you check for a house or land of Mumbai to get the CTS number?

Like humans, land sites must also be designated to identify and to distinguish themselves. The officials have been prepared to keep records with the city survey number of property parcels that are very essential because the property parcels are of elevated asset worth. So the next time you go to Mumbai’s local sub-registrar office, don’t get bothered if your officer asks you for a CTS number. It is actually your property identification, on which you will pay the stamp duty.

What Is The CTS Number?

CTS stands for chain and triangle survey number. In order to maintain the record of land, the Mumbai Land Registry Superintendent put in place a system by which every parcel of land within the city’s borders is assigned a particular number. This numerical plot identity is called the city survey number, the cadastral survey number, chain and triangle survey number, or the CTS number. This number will fuel the sale of your property at the moment of property registration.

The Mumbai Suburban District official states, “A city survey record has been established on each individual piece of land, and a specific number recognized as city survey number is provided. A property card has also been provided for each city survey number.” Between 1963 and 1967 the city survey of the Mumbai Suburban District took place.

Across Mumbai, there are 10 CTS offices for the three talukas of Andheri, Borivali and Kurla, under which the 86 villages of the Mumbai Suburban district are covered.
