Vasai in Mumbai to Get a Ring Road Soon

Abhay Shah - October 4, 2025

Mumbai: The Vasai-Virar urban area, bordered by the Arabian Sea on one side and lush forests on the other, is set to get its own Ring Road.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has initiated the process and requested a new Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a Ring Road in Vasai tehsil of Palghar district, which adjoins Mumbai, the financial capital.

Vasai-Virar, located on the Western Line, forms a part of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).

The decision was made during a meeting led by Fadnavis, which saw participation from Palghar MP Dr. Hemant Savra, Minister of State for Urban Development Madhuri Misal, Vasai MLA Sneha Dube-Pandit, and Nalasopara MLA Rajan Naik. Officials from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), Vasai Virar City Municipal Corporation (VVCMC), and Mira-Bhayander Vasai-Virar (MBVV) Police Commissionerate were also present.

Dube-Pandit noted that significant construction along the proposed Ring Road route requires a re-survey. “The Chief Minister directed that a new DPR be prepared with MMRDA’s assistance, and the process to acquire the currently vacant road should start immediately,” she said.

She also highlighted the growing traffic congestion and parking issues in Vasai-Virar city. “The Chief Minister ordered that the feasibility of this proposal be examined and presented accordingly,” she added.

Additionally, Dube-Pandit brought up the pending proposals for seven critical flyovers and roads in Vasai-Virar, including Range Office Chowk, Vasant Nagri, Evershine Gokhivare Road, and Manikpur Naka to Bhabola Naka.

“The Chief Minister instructed officials to gather information on areas where land acquisition is complete and release funds for these projects without delay,” she said.
