According to officials, a web-based portal displaying layout plans of various regions of Delhi was inaugurated on Monday to make old records accessible to the public. According to them, the work was assigned to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs as part of the government’s ‘Ease of Doing Business’ vision.

The portal, www.ddalop.org.in, was inaugurated by DDA’s vice chairman and is now available for public viewing, they added.

Attempts to access the website at around 9.30 p.m., however, were futile as a “network error” message appeared on the screen every time the provided link was clicked on, with a senior official suspecting “server issues” were to blame.

The central government, as part of its Ease of Doing Business vision, has begun digitising all of Delhi’s layout plans and has created a web portal where approved layout plans can be uploaded, according to a statement from the DDA.

According to the DDA, all layout plans for an area of 1483 square kilometres were collected from “17 Planning Zones of Delhi.”

“These layouts are between 40 and 70 years old. The most recent approved layouts were identified, scanned, and digitised, and the work was awarded to a consulting firm “It stated.

“These configuration strategies, which were available in multiple Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), namely, all MCDs (Municipal Corporation of Delhi), NDMC (New Delhi Municipal Council), DDA, GNCTD (Delhi government), DSIIDC (Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development), L&DO (Land and Development Office), have been catalogued for improved understanding of the relevant public,” it decided to add.

“Because of quality of these layouts was poor, the scanned layouts were vectorised and stitched together region, and the zones were overlapped on the Big Plan of Delhi,” it just said.

The web portal’s graphic user interface displays various features and tools to facilitate viewing and downloading of various ULB layout plans.

The general public can view or download the layout plans that have already been approved by the ULBs and authorities involved. The public can use this information for a variety of purposes.
