SRA targets 5.09 lakh homes
Mumbai : The Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) has set a target of completing 5,09,873 rehabilitation homes by December 2030, as Mumbai steps up efforts to accelerate slum redevelopment.
The authority plans to complete 90,264 homes by December 2026, rising to 1,48,219 by December 2027, 2,44,356 by December 2028, 3,61,026 by December 2029 and 5,09,873 by December 2030.
SRA has also identified 19 locations for cluster redevelopment.
The first phase covers Behrampada in Bandra East, Majaswadi in Andheri and Behram Baug in Oshiwara, with agencies including MMRDA, MHADA and CIDCO involved.
To revive stalled projects, SRA is considering an amnesty scheme, joint partnership models and tender-based developer appointments.
It has also introduced 22 digital services since May 2024 covering approvals, NOCs, project scrutiny and application tracking.
The key test will now be turning the redevelopment pipeline into completed homes within the 2030 deadline.
