Mumbai Records Over 12,600 Property Registrations in September
Mumbai: Property registration activity in Mumbai remained strong in September 2026, with the city recording 12,622 registrations, according to Maharashtra’s Inspector General of Registration data. The monthly tally was 5% higher than the corresponding period last year and represented the strongest September performance in more than 14 years.
The Ganesh Chaturthi period emerged as a particularly active phase for the market. From September 14 to 25, Mumbai registered 5,379 properties, an increase of 22% compared with the same period last year. The figure was also the highest recorded during the festive period in four years.
Revenue from stamp duty, however, moved differently from registration volumes. Collections during September were estimated at ₹1,227 crore, compared with ₹1,291 crore in September 2025, resulting in a decline of about 5%.
The variation suggests that the properties registered during the month differed in value or transaction composition from those recorded a year earlier.
Looking at the broader period, Mumbai registered approximately 1.19 lakh properties over the 12 months through September 2026. The data reflects continued transaction activity across the city’s residential property market.
Connectivity and infrastructure improvements remain important factors shaping housing demand across Mumbai and the wider MMR, alongside considerations such as location, pricing and the specifications of individual projects.
September’s registration data points to sustained housing-market activity in Mumbai, with the festive period providing an additional boost to transactions.
