Minister Nitin Gadkari speaks about the upcoming Delhi-Mumbai expressway that will cut-down travel time by half.

On Friday, the Road Transport and Highways Union Minister, Nitin Gadkari, said the forthcoming Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will serve as a growth engine for its transit areas.

He also said that the expressway would slash the travel time between Delhi and Mumbai by almost half, addressing an event at Manesar in Haryana’s Gurgaon district.

The highway will serve as the growth engine for its regions as logistics parks and smart towns would also be developed. The project will be completed during the tenure of the current government, he said in a Haryana release of the government.

At a two-day meeting held at Manesar on January 23 and 24, Gadkari, together with his deputy in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway Gen V K Singh (retd), discussed all of the national highway development plans.

The repair work of the flyover on the hero Honda roundabout at Gurgaon will be completed by February 15; Gadkari stated and expressed confidence that it does not need more maintenance for the next five years.

He also told the gathering that the on-going work of the particular stretches on the Delhi-Chandigarh highway will be finished within a year and a half. Gadkari mentioned that the meeting covered reviewing around 730 projects across the country.
