As per the latest amendments made by MahaRERA, from 1st December onwards, all developers who are registered with the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) will have to provide details about the developer’s body with whom they are linked with.

Officials from MahaRERA said that the amendments under Section 34 of the MahaRERA Act have been implemented to provide promoters with greater professionalism and to discourage fraudulent practices.

Vasant Prabhu, Secretary, MahaRERA, told that this move is to the advantage of consumers since many promoters do not comply with regulations after being registered by the regulatory authority or are not available at that address, but SROs are now accountable for the details provided by the developers and are responsible for their compliance. “Through the SROs all of the projects can be monitored,” he said.

During the registration process with MahaRERA, developers must give detailed information about the self-regulatory organization which would be approved by the authority. Officials said that this would make developers and SROs responsible for their projects in the state.
