INDORE: An under-construction building was demolished by Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) on Friday due to the owners’ failure to get necessary clearances and violation of National Green Tribunal (NGT) regulations.

The IMC team arrived at Triveni Nagar on Friday morning in response to a resident welfare association’s complaints regarding an unauthorized building being constructed on a plot.

“The action was taken on plot numbers 28–29, where the owners were building a new house without the necessary permits and demolishing the old one within a 30-meter radius of a water body,” IMC official PS Kushwah stated.

He continued by saying that no new building is permitted within a 30-meter radius of a body of water per NGT directives. According to Umesh Hublani, the complainant, the site was designated as open land since it was close to a river and belonged to a housing association.

Shop owners in South Toda began demolishing their erected unlawful shelters and kiosks that had encroached on sidewalks and highways.

A few of the kiosks were illegally positioned close to a body of water; the shopkeepers took independent action to remove them.

The move was made in response to IMC’s continuous campaign to rid key marketplaces of encroachment to improve commuter convenience and reduce traffic. IMC has cleared out illegitimate buildings from crowded markets in the Rajwada, Bombay Bazaar, and Ranipura areas throughout the past few days.
