Abhay Shah - February 8, 2020

On February 6, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) launched an online portal to support the sale of TDR.

It has features like the issue, use, sale of TDR certificates and existing certificates data. The site is recognized as TDR Bank. It was initiated by KT Rama Rao, Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD).

Owners who lost land in the process of government land acquisition and do not want monetary compensation can choose TDR certificates. The certificate gives the owner the rights to build additional built-up area on his property. The certificate is the permission for further built-up areas that may be built in all parts of the city. If the owner does not want the property to build additional floors or extend its built-up area, the TDR certificate can be sold.

In the jurisdiction of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), it has extended the utilization of GHMC certificates for TDR to its ORR limitations. People can find the available TDR through the TDR Bank application. An option is presented to current manual TDR certificate holders to turn the manual certificate into a digital platform. Also, digital certificate holders are allowed to sell TDR certificates according to standards.

The statement issued by the municipal authority reads “More than 550 GHMC TDR certificates have been issued to date.
