The government has initiated to go one step more on digitalization by uploading all the details of disputed land in Maharashtra online.

The state registration department is coming up with a proposal to tie with all the district revenue departments and courts to upload the details of properties that are under litigation. One of the official said that this would be very easy for users to search the database and check on the property whether it is involved in legal battle or not. The department is planning to link the I- Sarita (computerized registration) database with those of the courts, revenue officials, collect orates and the sub divisional officers.

All the work, uploading the data and maintaining the database, would be done in-house, officials said.

“E-search is limited now, and will be extended to all litigations — those being heard at revenue and district courts, so that the citizen is well aware of all the details of the property before s/he/ invests,” a state registration department official said.

As things stand, prospective buyers hire lawyers to obtain such information. Now, with a single search, the department aims to display details of court rulings, concluded orders and pending litigation on the plot question.

Officials also said they will work closely with NIC to ensure the data is secure and tamper-proof.
