The world’s largest solar tree will generate electricity even without sunlight
The Durgapur Situation Laboratory of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has developed the world’s largest solar tree. This tree is capable of meeting the basic power requirements of a small village. The quality of the tree is that even if it is cloudy in the sky, it does not stagnate but produces little power.
Scientists of Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMERI) have established this tree in their residential colony. The tree has 35 solar panels with a capacity of 11.5 kW peak. That is 40–46 units of electricity it produces. Even if there is a rainy season and there is no sunshine but the atmosphere is hot, this solar tree works with about half the capacity.
