Get property e-records certified anywhere in Maharashtra

Citizens may soon be allowed to get their property e-records certified at any sub-registrar office in the state, instead of visiting the one near to their housing unit/land.

A proposal in this regard was recently put forth by the state registration department. “We have proposed that any of our 500 sub-registrar offices should be allowed to certify the downloaded history of property documents, irrespective of the property location,” State Inspector General of Registration and Stamps Anil Kawade told.

The property history documents can be downloaded via e-search option on the IGR website. “The move will save the trouble and time for citizens, who are presently forced to visit the sub-registrar office near to their property location,” Kawade said, adding that the move will allow Pune property owners to get their history documents certified from any sub-registrar office in the entire state.

The e-search facility from the registration website allows people to search for all previous transactions of a particular property, after providing all the required details. The department had introduced the facility to keep middlemen at bay and reduce the rounds for citizens to the IGR offices.

“With rising land prices across the district, instances of properties sold twice have come to light through these e-search facilities. The search alerts the buyer about a possible fraud and also makes the transaction litigation free,” officials from the IGR department said.

Recently, the stamp and registration department also went cashless after the introduction of electronic payment for document handling charges. The facility has been introduced for Pune district and will be replicated in the rest of the state from May 1. The department had also announced that the functioning of the Authorised Service Providers (ASPs) will also be tracked.
