Real estate leaders undertake social responsibility by contributing there best in this COVID-19 issue.
Industry leaders around the globe undertake social responsibility in one way or another, and players in the Indian real estate industry are still not behind. Although some have given their workers advance salaries, others contribute funds to the hospitals.
Godrej Group has dedicated a Rs 50 Crore fund for community support and relief initiatives. The group donated Rs 5 crore to the BMC, 115 hospital beds to government hospitals in Maharashtra, and helped create a 75-bed quarantine centre at the Seven Hills hospital in Andheri, Mumbai.
Lodha Group issued all staff from the lower to the mid-level management with advance salaries for the month of March 2020.
Pune-based Gera Developments assures full payment of employee salaries for March and April. “We’ve had to shut down all the construction sites in Pune. This would affect development and impact our ability to submit invoices until work is resumed, but while this is a problem we face, the bigger obstacle is for our contractors and much more so for their workers who get paid based on work completed.
We are contemplating a policy for the advancements of contractors to help them tide over the crisis in case the lock-down lasts for much longer,” said Rohit Gera, managing director of the company.
