PMC to acquire land owned by defence establishments for Rs 20 crore.
The city council agreed to pay Rs 20 crore to complete the land acquisition for the Chandni Chowk flyover project owned by defence establishments.
The sum will be transferred phase by phase to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). In the case of obtaining 0.48 hectares in the name of the Pune Municipal Corporation, the NHAI is expected to make a payment to the Defence Department.
Because of land acquisition concerns the project was delayed. For the project, almost 15 hectares of open plots and 100 properties had to be acquired. Approximately 98% of the acquisition was made at Rs 450 crore.
“The undertaking to pay the acquisition costs to the NHAI was to be issued. The proposal to that effect came before the Standing Committee and we gave our consent,” said Hemant Rasane, Head of the Standing Committee of the PMC.
As proposed, the NHAI would pay the costs of land to the Defence Department. The PMC would then pay for the financial arrangements that will be made.
Flyover construction has begun on Mulshi Road, Vedvihar Road, Shringer Road, near Ramnadi area, and on the route to Mumbai. Around 20% of the work has been done.
