Congress had put an allegation over BJP for misleading Mumbaiker public on property tax waiver. BJP clarified that all the components all components of the levy would be waived in the future bills.
Mr Ashish Shelar (Mumbai BJP chief) explained: “The process to change the rule to facilitate the waiver is on.”
Further, he says “In case of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, civic rules have been changed to waive general component of property tax for houses up to 500 sq.ft. However, to waive other components of property tax, you need to change the state rules. The process of issuing an ordinance in this regard is on.”
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) ruled by shiv sena had declared that the property tax for residential flats upto 500 sq.ft will be waived. On this Mr Milind Deora (Congress Chief) accused that the BJP has fooled public and has waved only 0.110% of the property tax.
Mr Miling Deora explains “that following the Sena’s guarantee to waive property charge, the BMC requested that the state government actualize it and the last issued an ordinance a month ago. Be that as it may, the administration goals of March 8, 2019, just altered segment 140 (C) of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act and just the general duty segment – which shifts from 10-30% of all-out expense chunk – was exempted, he claimed. Further, the GR said the exclusion would become effective from January 1, 2019, however the BMC issued bills for up to March 31 (without exception).”
