Lucknow Development Authority to Cancel 292 Plots in Transport Nagar Scheme Over Missing Records

Abhay Shah - December 16, 2024

LUCKNOW: The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) announced on Friday that the allocation of 292 plots under the Transport Nagar scheme could be revoked due to missing official records.

To address the issue, the LDA has instructed current occupants to submit allocation-related documents for verification.

If the documents are deemed valid, the occupants can retain their plots. However, failure to provide the necessary paperwork within a month will result in the plots being declared vacant and sold via e-auction.

According to LDA’s additional secretary, Gyanendra Verma, the Transport Nagar scheme, initiated in 1980, consists of approximately 1,900 plots ranging from 50 to 1,000 square meters, primarily used for warehouses and agencies.

A recent investigation into 17 suspected fraudulent registrations uncovered that 13 were fake, prompting the LDA to file an FIR. This discovery, coupled with residents’ requests to convert plots into freehold, led to an internal audit, exposing the absence of records for 292 plots.

Acting on directives from LDA vice-chairman Prathamesh Kumar, a public notice has been issued, urging occupants to submit original documents for the disputed plots.

The list of affected plots has been made available on the LDA website, and awareness campaigns, including hoardings in Transport Nagar, have been initiated.

Occupants are required to provide the necessary documentation within a month of the notice. Verified claims will secure plot ownership, while failure to substantiate claims will result in forfeiture of allocation rights and subsequent online auctions. Any discrepancies will be the sole responsibility of the occupants.
