IIT-Madras and Australian Varsity Collaboration brings light towards Affordable Housing.

Affordable housing is an issue that numerous nations all over the world are facing. In India, the issue is considerably more unmistakable with an expected deficiency of around 18 million houses, with 99% of this in the monetarily weaker areas of society.

As per the latest report, IIT- Madras has collaborated with the University of Technology- Sydney which aims to get international expertise, to knowledge them the need for the quality, cheaper and durable housing.

IIT Madras said, “This partnership of IIT-Madras and Technology-Sydney will include a wide range of research accumulated and a set of joint PhD supervisions”.

A meeting was held, on May 2nd 2019 (Thursday) in IIT-Madras campus as a part of the project. This meeting was conducted to bring the prefabricated construction which will improve mass housing delivery in India and Australia. This brought together key stakeholders from industry, academia and governments of India and Australia. According to the source, the project is funded by the Australia-India Council of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Professor Sidney Newton explains: “The phenomenal interest for low-cost housing in India is driving an essential change in how the development business is managed. This event will demonstrate pivotal, in coordinating and empowering new developments.”
