Government will reduce the burden of free electricity by connecting farmers’ pumps to solar panels in Punjab

Free power to the farmers of Punjab always remains in the eyes of the governments. The state government has to bear a financial burden of Rs 7,000 crore every year by giving free electricity to the farmers. This directly affects the urban people. Due to political pressure, no government can muster the courage to shut down free electricity or reduce its burden.

The Punjab government is now considering to reduce the burden of free electricity in an installment manner. The Punjab government is now planning to connect farmers’ motors with solar panels. Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has also called a high level meeting in this regard.
