A “Record of Rights” for 21,000 villagers has been completed, & one lakh people will benefit.
INDORE: The Indore district administration has begun distributing legal ownership of property—Record of Rights (ROR)—under the Svamitva Scheme, based on its drive to compile a database of “original owners” of residential plots in 553 villages. The Svamitva scheme, according to ADM Abhay Bedekar, aims to provide RoR to household owners who own houses in inhabited areas (abadi) in villages through the issuance of legal ownership rights (property cards/ title deeds). The scheme entails surveying land parcels in rural inhabited areas of 553 Indore villages, including the use of drones.
So far, 371 drone surveys and physical map verifications in 470 villages across all tehsils have been completed—Depalpur, Dr. Ambedkar Nagar (Mhow), Sanwer, Hatod, Khudel, Rau, Kanadia, Bicholi Hapsi, Malharganj, and Juni Indore.”Government ownership referred to in land records as’ abadi bhoomi ‘,’ has been replaced with the name of occupants who have. He also stated that RoR has been distributed by the local administration since October 2nd. Approximately 10,000 villagers have benefited from the scheme thus far. “Villagers will have legal rights to the land they have lived on for generations if records are kept.” “They can now sell or mortgage it to banks as well,” explained the ADM.
“The Indore district has 612 villages, but some of them have no ‘abadi bhoomi or are vacant with no residents.” As a result, the remaining 553 villages in the Svamitva Scheme survey were chosen,” he explained.
